Perpendicularity

(appearing in the Dreamspinner Press anthology Two Tickets to Paradise)

Kyle Montoya is a professional snowboarder with a bit of a problem: he’s planned a romantic Valentine’s Day getaway at a five-star resort in the French Alps for himself and his girlfriend… except they’ve broken up. Expected to compete at an important Olympic qualifier that same week, Kyle has no choice but to suck it up and “enjoy” his vacation alone. Lonely and bitter about the twist of fate that seems to be mocking him at every turn, especially when he catches sight of the rose petals and expensive champagne arranged courtesy of the resort, Kyle is certain this will be the holiday from hell. That is, until he meets Dylan, the personal chef assigned to him for the duration of his stay. Charmed by the young chef’s clever wit and shy smile, and not to mention blown away by his incredible cooking, Kyle decides the universe must be trying to give him a sign when he learns Dylan is also flying solo this Valentine’s Day.
